SUSTAINABILITY

Over the last few years, IKEA has worked hard to improve sustainability and help the planet.

They are front runners in the task to tackle climate change. The IKEA Foundation has committed 1 billion euros to help towards tackling climate change on a global scale.

400 million euros were dedicated by the IKEA Foundation to renewable energy and 600 million euros have been dedicated to support the communities that are greatly impacted by climate change.

They source 50% of their wood from a sustainable source and by 2020 aim to gather 100% of the wood used to produce their products from a sustainable source.

They have donated 20.9 million euro to the refugee crisis and to help children in need in some of the poorest countries in the world.

IKEA works very hard to encourage their customers to live a sustainable life at home with the aid of their products. They do this by promoting products in their range that save and conserve energy, save water waste, save waste and aid recycling. They do all of this at the lowest possible price to make sure it is affordable for all and can appeal to all walks of life.

IKEA hope to produce or exceed as much energy as they produce by 2020. Their existing wind farms, solar panels and biomass generators producing roughly around 70% according to their 2015 sustainabliltiy report.

They have switched all of their lightbulbs in their range to LED which use roughly around 85% less energy than normal lightbulbs.
